Advanced Engineering Techniques Limited (AET) is proud to share some fantastic news from the team, as Jon Perry, apprentice welder has been named Apprentice of the Year, recognising his hard work, commitment and outstanding progress during his apprenticeship.

Jon Perry receiving his Apprentice of the Year award at the Chesterfield Apprentice of the Year Awards, presented by Troy Holler (Curriculum Manager – Service Sector and Engineering Work‑Based) and Tricia Gilby, Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council.

Jon joined AET as a welding apprentice with a strong desire to learn and quickly demonstrated a positive attitude on the shopfloor. From day one, he has shown a willingness to get involved, take on responsibility and develop his welding skills, while consistently working to the high standards of quality and safety expected at AET.

Throughout his apprenticeship, Jon has balanced the demands of day‑to‑day work at AET alongside his college studies, applying what he has learned directly into the workplace. His attention to detail and thoughtful approach to his welding work have helped him progress quickly and build confidence in the products he is producing.

Commenting on Jon’s achievement, his mentor Jamie Morris said:

“Jon’s attention to detail has been one of the main strengths that has helped him develop. He also isn’t afraid to ask the right questions during his training, always wanting to better understand the outcome of the product he is producing.”

Jon’s team leader, John Brookes, also praised his contribution to the team:

“Jon has taken everything in his stride since joining the welding team. He applies himself well, takes pride in his work and has become a reliable member of the team in a relatively short space of time. This award is well deserved.”

The Apprentice of the Year award recognises not only technical ability, but also attitude, curiosity and a commitment to learning – all areas in which Jon has excelled. His achievement is a credit to his own hard work, as well as the support of the mentors and colleagues who have helped guide his development.

AET are passionate about supporting the next generation of engineers, and Jon’s success highlights the value of our apprenticeship programme and the opportunities it creates.

Congratulations to Jon on a well‑deserved award – Advanced Engineering Techniques Limited (AET) look forward to seeing him continue to grow and progress his career with AET.
