Pulse MIG/MAG welding has long been favoured as a method of welding by industry professionals and, until recently, it’s been seen as a technology reserved specifically for specialists. GYS, Europe’s largest manufacturer of welding machines, is investing heavily in advanced research and development to bring this to a wider range of welders – the result of this commitment is the new Cosmos range.

The rate of technological development in the welding industry is only accelerating and manufacturers therefore need to keep up to meet evolving market and user demands. GYS’ latest contribution in Cosmos is the culmination of over 20 years of expertise and R&D, built on an entirely new and bespoke software architecture, combining digital control, full traceability and true multiprocess capability into one powerful solution that fits perfectly into any type of fabrication, sheet metal, metal forming, maintenance or production environment.

Made in France, two new models make up the range: Cosmos 400G and 500G – highly powerful 400 and 500 Amp machines.

Industrial-Grade Pulse Performance

Cosmos brings the benefits of Pulse MIG/MAG into a highly advanced yet simple to use platform. With over 70 built-in synergic programs and eighteen dedicated welding modes – including Pulse, Root and ModulArc for aesthetic aluminium work – it delivers the right arc for every application. This level of arc control is particularly valuable in sheet metal and fabrication work, where distortion, appearance and repeatability directly affect processes later down the line.

Pulse mode offers precise control of welding energy, reducing spatter and rework (particularly on thin sheet and formed components), while ModulArc’s double-pulse automatically manages heat input to weld thin aluminium sheets without distortion, producing a TIG-like finish. This is ideal for fabricated panels and formed sections.

Instant ignition, clean bead endings and up to 30% higher welding speeds (when using Pulse) result in higher throughput in fabrication and batch-production environments. Cleaner welds can be achieved with less rework, without the complexity that’s usually associated with Pulse systems.

True Multi-Process Versatility

As an advanced multiprocess platform, Cosmos sets the bar for the future of industrial Pulse MIG/MAG welding. Supporting MIG/MAG Pulse, (Pulse) MMA DC, (Pulse) TIG Lift and air-arc gouging, this breadth allows workshops to consolidate multiple processes into one machine, moving smoothly between fabrication, repairs and finishing while maintaining consistent weld quality across every task.

For fabrication workshops, this allows a single platform to support production welding, rework and finishing without changing machines.

Precise Digital Control

The Cosmos range makes advanced digital control accessible to all users; Both compatible separate wire feeder models feature multilingual digital displays for simple, precise parameter adjustments. Each model shares two key display modes, Easy and Expert, to ensure the interface suits welders of varying skill levels, with customisable levels of detail.

In addition, up to 200 welding programs can be stored for repetitive tasks and batch work – programs can be sequenced directly from the torch, allowing welders to move between jobs without returning to the machine – ideal for large fabrications and productivity-critical environments. Welding programs can also be shared between units to standardise results across teams and sites, and both models boast full traceability.

These features are crucial for industrial work where productivity and uptime are key, and all welds need to be documented and audited to ensure safety, regulatory compliance and internal quality control in fabrication environments.

Lastly, Cosmos features modern connectivity, capable of receiving software and synergy updates via USB, serving as the foundation for future software developments and enhanced machine capabilities.

Built for Demanding Environments

Designed with industrial environments in mind, both models feature IP23-rated protection and on-demand ventilation to minimise dust ingress. Automatic gas purging after downtime also ensures the torch is protected and weld quality is maintained, even in intermittent production environments.

Generator compatibility up to 30 kW and interconnection cables up to 20 metres also extend where and how the machines can be used. Paired with a separate wire feeder, Cosmos is equally suited to large fabrications where mobility around the workpiece is essential. Every detail and feature is engineered for reliability, making Cosmos a true production-ready Pulse platform.

With its combination of controlled heat input, repeatable digital processes and industrial durability, Cosmosis particularly well suited to sheet metal fabrication, formed components and high-precision welded assemblies.
