After the approval of a controlled sample, work has begun for Wates feature stairs
In 2024 Taunton Fabrications was awarded the contract to design, fabricate and install three sets of feature stairs for Wates Construction at the Capital Park development in Cambridge.
As part of the collaborative process, in October 2024 Taunton Fabrications hosted key project stakeholders, including Wates Construction, Gensler, and Perkins & Will, at its state-of-the-art workshop facilities in Taunton. During this visit, the team was able to view and provide feedback on a controlled sample, ensuring the design and construction met the rigorous standards required for the project.
Following the approval of the sample, the fabrication process began. Taunton Fabrications skilled team has since completed the first stair, which is now ready to be sent for finishing. The stair will undergo final treatments before being transported to the Capital Park site in the coming months, with installation scheduled for the spring.
Once on-site, the feature stair will be expertly timber-clad by Thomas Brothers Joinery, adding a stunning visual element to the development. This collaboration between Taunton Fabrications, Wates Construction, and the wider project team highlights the seamless integration of design, fabrication, and craftsmanship.
