Caunton Engineering recently supplied over 3,000te of structural steelwork for a major cable production facility in Blyth, in the north east, for major contractor Galliford Try. The bulk of the steelwork is for a four span portal framework.
There are in addition two major structurally independent multi-storey towers. The Continuous Catenary Vulcanisation (CCV) towers of five floors, 44m tall and the Vertical Laying up Machine (VLM) tower of three floors, 50m tall.
Both major structures in their own right and both erected with metal decking. This required a variety of steelwork to be fabricated and with 120 minute intumescent fire protection applied at Caunton Engineering, for this important project for the growing off-shore renewable energy sector.
