When Lasermaster Ltd went looking for a new linisher/deburring machine seven years ago, the search wasn’t quick. The team travelled extensively and evaluated a wide range of suppliers before settling on NS Maquinas, the Portuguese machine builder, and its DM1300 model. That decision has since paid dividends many times over — the DM1300 is still in daily service, running eight hours a day without missing a beat.
“It took a long time and a lot of travelling,” says John Gotts, of Lasermaster Ltd, “but we ended up buying a machine that has been an outstanding piece of kit ever since.” Beyond the machine’s build quality, Gotts credits the strength of NS Maquinas’ support network. Whenever parts or consumables were needed, a call to either the UK agent or the factory in Portugal was all it took — deliveries typically arrived within days, keeping downtime to a minimum.
Fast-forward seven years, and Lasermaster’s operation has grown significantly, now running four laser cutting machines alongside its finishing equipment. With that growth came the need for a second linisher/deburrer — and, given the long track record of reliability from the original DM1300, the company says there was little hesitation in returning to NS Maquinas for the new investment.
Lasermaster Ltd did shop around, obtaining quotes from a number of machine suppliers before making its final decision. But the proven durability and build quality of its existing NS Maquinas equipment ultimately swayed the choice back in the manufacturer’s favour.
For the new purchase, Lasermaster Ltd worked with SPARX Machine Tools, NS Maquinas’ UK representative, which specified a DM1600 Evo for the business. The machine has now been in operation for eight months, running ten hours a day without a single fault.
“It’s a fantastic machine, with big improvements over our original model,” Gotts notes, highlighting the DM1600 Evo’s advances in both performance and usability compared with the earlier DM1300.
Lasermaster says it is happy to act as a reference point for other fabricators considering the NS Maquinas range, with Gotts welcoming enquiries from businesses wanting first-hand insight into how the two machines have performed in a demanding, high-volume production environment.
The company also extended thanks to the SPARX Machine Tools team for their support during the installation and ongoing servicing of both machines, describing their input as instrumental in keeping operations running smoothly.
With four lasers now supported by two NS Maquinas deburring machines, Lasermaster’s investment strategy — buying quality equipment new and building long-term relationships with trusted suppliers — continues to underpin its production capability, and its confidence in both NS Maquinas and SPARX Machine Tools shows no sign of wavering.
