Last Month, Group Rhodes Bid a heartfelt farewell to Allen Clutton, a cherished employee who has retired after an extraordinary career spanning over five decades with the company and its affiliates.
Allen’s remarkable journey with Group Rhodes began in 1872 when he joined Joseph Rhodes as an Apprentice Fitter. His career path led him to British Jeffrey Diamond (now BJD Crushers) in 1983, a company that recently joined the Group Rhodes family in 2023.
Following his tenure at British Jeffrey Diamond, Allen brought his expertise to Slater and Crabtree, which itself became a member of the Group Rhodes portfolio. In 2016, Allen made a significant return to Group Rhodes, where he served as a Senior Machinist until his retirement.
With an impressive 52 years of dedicated service to Group Rhodes companies, Allen has left an indelible mark on our organisation. His unwavering commitment, exceptional skills, and hard work has been invaluable assets to the team.
As Allen embarks on this new chapter, Group Rhodes extend their warmest wishes for a long and happy retirement. May he enjoy many challenging walks in the countryside and exciting football matches watching Barnsley FC.
Most importantly, they want to express their deepest gratitude for Allen’s remarkable dedication and contributions throughout his illustrious career with Group Rhodes.
2024 marks the company’s 200th anniversary year. From its early days in 1824 when Joseph Rhodes opened his first machine workshop in Wakefield, to Group Rhodes today supplying machinery equipment solutions to manufacturers throughout the world, the company has shown both resilience and adaptability. Its sovereign capability has been previously recognised by Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in both the Innovation and International Sales categories.
