Grenville Engineering (Stoke-on-Trent) Ltd has strengthened its advanced manufacturing capabilities with the installation of a new 12kW TRUMPF TruLaser 3030 fiber (L95). Delivered on 7 November 2025, the machine becomes the company’s most powerful laser to date, doubling the output of the previous 6kW model and enabling significantly faster cutting speeds and the processing of much thicker materials.
The TruLaser 3030 fiber features a 3000 x 1500 millimetre working range and incorporates TRUMPF’s TruDisk 12001 solid-state laser with BrightLine fiber, a technology designed to deliver excellent edge quality and process reliability even at high powers. The system is equipped with an automatic nozzle changer for seamless switching between cutting conditions, in conjunction with TRUMPF’s Highspeed Eco package, which reduces gas consumption while increasing feed rates. Additional features include compressed air cutting and an integrated gas mixer, providing Grenville with greater flexibility when working with a wide range of materials and thicknesses.
This latest generation TruDisk source provides up to 12 kilowatts of laser power, allowing the team to cut mild steel up to 30 millimetres, stainless steel up to 40 millimetres, aluminium to 30 millimetres, and copper and brass up to 12.7 millimetres. For Grenville’s customers, this means faster turnaround times, improved edge quality and the ability to offer a broader range of parts that previously required outsourcing.
TRUMPF specialists are working closely with Grenville’s on-site electrical team throughout the installation, ensuring the machine is fully optimised for production. In parallel, Technical Engineers Mike Fielding and Tom Bennet have spent the week at TRUMPF’s Luton headquarters undertaking programming training, with further machine-specific training taking place on the shop floor during commissioning.
The investment forms a core part of Grenville’s ongoing development programme, which this year has also included bringing machining fully in-house with the purchase of two Hurco milling machines, expanding robotic welding capability and deepening training and qualifications across its skilled and apprentice welder teams. The new laser enhances an already diverse cutting portfolio, which includes Bystronic, TRUMPF, and Bison flatbed and tube systems.
Grant Barratt, Director, said:
“The investment in our new TRUMPF fibre laser ensures that our customers remain at the centre of everything we do. The machine’s advanced technology and throughput will enable us to deliver the highest level of service, meeting both current and growing demand from customers across multiple manufacturing sectors.
We understand that to remain competitive, facilities like ours must invest in machines that are increasingly technologically advanced. The improvements offered by this TRUMPF machine will allow us to stay highly competitive and consistently produce components to the highest possible standards.
This investment represents the latest step in our strategy to expand our capacity and strengthen our presence within the market. It will also create new opportunities for our existing employees and open up potential future employment opportunities in Stoke on Trent.”
Stuart Rawlinson, Sales Director, added:
“The new TruLaser 3030 gives us a major step forward in both speed and capability. Doubling our power output means we can react even faster to customer requirements and take on more challenging work, safe in the knowledge that we can achieve the accuracy and consistency that TRUMPF machines are known for. It strengthens our offer across all the sectors we support and demonstrates our commitment to investing in the future.”
Operating across both day and night shifts, Grenville Engineering provides a comprehensive fabrication solution, including design, laser cutting, punching, forming, welding, and machining. Based in Stoke-on-Trent and celebrating its 40th anniversary last year, the company continues to invest heavily in technology and people to support the growing needs of UK manufacturing.
