Hutchinson’s have always believed engineering is about more than steel and structure, it’s about people. That belief is what’s driven them to launch the Creighton Hutchinson Academy – one of the most practical, hands-on engineering apprenticeships in Northern Ireland.
Named in honour of their founder, the academy is built to equip the next generation of engineers with the skills, confidence, and career opportunities they need to thrive.
“Not only is this something very close to my heart because it’s named after my dad,” says CEO Mark Hutchinson, “but it’s also a huge passion of mine – developing and growing people.”
Why We Created Our Engineering Apprenticeship in Northern Ireland
Like many in the industry, Hutchinson’s have seen the growing skills gap – particularly in welding and fabrication. We’re not waiting for talent. We’re building it, through one of the most accessible engineering apprenticeships Northern Ireland has to offer.
The academy focuses on attitude first, skills second. We’re looking for people who are eager to learn, open to change, and ready to commit to something bigger than just a job.
“We bring people in with the right attitude,” says Mark, “and we train them for the skills that are required within our business.”
Whether you’re:
- A school-leaver figuring out your next step
- A career changer looking for something more hands-on and meaningful
- Or someone who’s simply curious about engineering…
The Creighton Hutchinson Academy is one of the most practical, hands-on engineering apprenticeships in Northern Ireland – built to meet you where you are and help you go further.
A Legacy of Opportunity
The academy is named in honour of Mark’s father, Creighton Hutchinson, who founded the company in 1971. He believed in giving people a chance and we’re proud to carry that legacy forward.
“My dad was a man who wanted to give people a chance,” says Mark. “And I want to roll that forward today and give more people a chance to have a fantastic career in engineering.”
