What are the characteristics of a good press release?

  • Most importantly the story should be newsworthy
  • Press releases traditionally have been text/image based but now also commonly supplied as video and sound bite formats.
  • Content must be interesting, informative and concise – not too salesy
  • No one likes getting lost is waffle!
  • It has to be relevant – we are interested in sheet metal, metal forming, fabrication and industry related news and events information – please do not send in irrelevant information

How do you supply a press release effectively

  • Take a headline seriously.
  • Content written in ‘the third person’ is best.
  • Present a summary of the story in paragraph 1.
  • Put your story in context.

Supply all text as

  • Word Documents
  • Images should be separated & supplied as jpegs 800 x 400 px
  • Logos should be separated and attached – jpegs
  • Hyperlinks, social media links, quotes should all be checked in advance – this is the senders responsibility.
