Work is progressing at pace on British Steel’s £26-million Skinningrove Service Centre.

The Special Profiles facility will include cut-to-length lines, product milling, machining and warehousing operations.

It is due to open in the next 6 weeks, enabling us to make and process an extended range of value-added profiles for the forklift industry.

Cranes and saws have been installed and continue to be commissioned, while the new offices are being fitted out.

The advanced milling and machining capability will mean we can offer profiles with world-leading tolerances of just 0.1mm.

Our Special Profiles business manufactures 250,000 tonnes of specialist products for a range of sectors, including the material handling market of which the ‘profitable and growing’ market for forklift trucks is a part.
