ADM Pressings has invested in a new TrackScan-Sharp 3D scanning measurement system. This is in response to both customer requirements for precision engineering and commitment to internal data on dimensional tolerance checking to monitor adherence to customer specifications. It supports its aim to be a leader within its fields of expertise through continuous improvement across the business.
INVESTMENT IN MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY FOR QUALITY CONTROL IN MANUFACTURING
The new industrial scanning solution represents a further investment of £83k into ADM’s quality control in manufacturing.
Adding to its existing CMM and Faro Arm measurement capabilities, the Trackscan-Sharp equipment brings ADM to the forefront with investment in measurement technology that aligns us firmly with the market leaders in our sector.
ADVANCED MANUFACTURING EQUIPMENT THAT SUPPORTS OUR VISION
This is another, targeted step in ADM’s mission to be world leaders in metal pressings and fabrication.
Morton Titterton, ADM Managing Director, said: “The equipment sets another marker of our intent to be market leaders within our chosen market sectors. ADM has a clear vision of continued investment in both people and manufacturing equipment to safeguard our future and profitability.
“The new equipment allows ADM to provide our customers with rapid feedback on product development using their CAD data provided. Driving decision making rooted in statistical analysis for the best outcomes.”
INCREASED OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY ANCHORED BY ON-SITE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
ADM’s quality team have been trained by TrackScan using real world examples of ADM products and are now applying that training on customer projects.
Tim Marshall ADM Quality Manager said “The 3D scanner gives us the ability to provide customers with high-definition 3D imagery coupled with extremely accurate data. As a non-contact method of measurement, the scanner allows the user to measure areas of product that can otherwise be extremely challenging and time-consuming to assess.”
KEY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OUR NEW 3D SCANNING VS AUTOMATED PROBE SYSTEMS
The new TrackScan system is highly mobile and allows both fixed position measurements as well as the versatility to measure products at their location on the shopfloor. This has some advantages over our existing technology in terms of data collection speed and reporting and the requirement to have each part or new product brought to a particular location for measurement.
WHAT PRODUCTS OR PROJECTS BENEFIT FROM THE NEW EQUIPMENT?
The new equipment will benefit all our customer products in terms of our ability to quickly process large amounts of data.
The TrackScan-Sharp system allows ADM to measure very large products including bespoke fabrications (10m x 10m) down to simple small component pressings (20mm x 20mm) with a measurement accuracy of 0.025mm.
The system is already improving product development insights and approaches to launching new projects.
HOW DOES THIS NEW SYSTEM IMPROVE DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCE CHECKING?
The new Trackscan-sharp equipment allows ADM to develop products at a much faster pace than previously achievable. The collection, processing and reporting on scanned data has been significantly improved both in terms of speed and accuracy.
ADM is now able to easily manage our measurement rota for each customer product. Maintaining our statistical analysis of each part to quickly identify if parts and equipment meet dimensional specifications.
The new equipment also allows ADM to maintain our ISO9001 Certifications.
