An important question was raised in PMQs recently by MP Kit Malthouse – and one that all fabricators need to be aware of – the impending imposition of tariffs on steel imports.

These steel tariffs are understandably causing concern across UK manufacturing in general, and the window fabrication sector will inevitably feel some of that pressure. In short, from the beginning of July, the amount of steel that can be imported tariff-free into the UK is being reduced significantly. And that once quotas are exceeded, a 50% tariff will apply to additional imported steel.
The knock-on effect for fabricators will impact availability, lead times, and, as ever, prices.
