Opportunities to acquire a current-generation fibre laser with almost no production hours are few and far between. Yet following recent changes within the UK machine tool distribution market, RAM Engineering & Tooling has secured one such machine, creating a unique opportunity for manufacturers looking to expand capacity without the typical lead times associated with buying new.
The machine in question is a 2024 Durma HD-F 3015 iV fibre laser. Originally supplied as a demonstration machine, it has seen only minimal use and remains in exceptional condition. While technically classified as ex-demonstration equipment, it offers manufacturers the chance to invest in modern laser cutting technology that is effectively ready for immediate production.
Durma has built a strong reputation throughout the UK over the past 25 years, with well in excess of 1,000 installations serving industries including aerospace, automotive, fabrication, construction and general engineering.
The HD-F 3015 iV combines productivity with proven engineering. Equipped with a 3,048 x 1,524 mm cutting area, Siemens Sinumerik 840D CNC control, Precitec automatic-focus cutting head and Lantek CAD/CAM software with automatic nesting, the machine is designed to maximise throughput while remaining straightforward to operate. Features including a fully automatic shuttle table, enclosed cutting area, sheet detection, automatic nozzle cleaning and remote diagnostics further enhance efficiency and minimise downtime.
According to Ross Milne, Managing Director of RAM Engineering & Tooling, the timing of the machine’s availability is particularly significant.
“It’s extremely unusual to find a machine of this specification that’s so current and has seen so little use. Normally, equipment like this is installed with an end user from new and stays there for many years. This gives manufacturers the opportunity to acquire a premium, proven fibre laser that is available immediately.”
Originally supplied as a package valued at more than £340,000, the machine includes a 6 kW IPG laser source, camera monitoring, filtration system, commissioning, operator training and delivery package. The machine is now being offered at a huge 40% discount – an asking price of between £ 200k and £ 220k – depending on set-up, extras and delivery
Unlike many used machinery purchases, the machine is backed by RAM Engineering & Tooling’s applications expertise, installation, commissioning and ongoing technical support, ensuring customers receive assistance throughout the ownership journey rather than simply taking delivery of the equipment.
