Double anniversary: Hydraulics has been part of Schuler for 50 years.
In 1973, Siegfried Heilmann and Fritz Haller founded “Gemminger Maschinenbau GmbH” – GMG for short – and thus laid the foundation for today’s Schuler plant in Gemmingen. Initially, the focus of the business was on the manufacture and sale of special machines, feeding and linking systems and the automation of machine tools. Today, Gemmingen is the competence center for press line automation, hydraulic systems and equipment within the Schuler Group, to which the site has belonged since 1989.
1973 was also the year in which Schuler took over “SMG Süddeutsche Maschinenbau Gesellschaft mbH” in Waghäusel and from then on had expertise in all aspects of hydraulic presses and systems. Since April 2021, Schuler’s hydraulics business in Germany has been concentrated in Gemmingen.
On Friday, December 15, 2023, the approximately 330 employees celebrate the anniversary of their location and the hydraulics technology with a Christmas family party.
“Schuler can look back on a long tradition in Gemmingen,” says
Klaus Linnig, Managing Director, Head of the Automotive Division and responsible for the Gemmingen site. “With its combination of presses, hydraulics, automation, service and in-house production, the site plays a key role within the Schuler Group. My thanks go to all our employees, who have made a significant contribution to this with their knowledge and commitment.”
