A Newton Aycliffe-based manufacturer is celebrating a major milestone as its latest facade system enhancement completes rigorous independent testing.
BTS Facades and Fabrications has announced that its Vantage® IP Interlocking Plank System, now featuring an optional fin detail, has passed testing by UL Solutions, a UKAS-accredited laboratory in Telford, UK.
The additional feature has been evaluated to ensure compliance with CWCT standards, confirming its reliability in real-world applications.
The fin, originally designed to replicate the appearance of a standing seam roof joint, has become a sought-after aesthetic addition to modern facades.
While purely visual, the feature changes the way the system interacts with wind loads and impact conditions, making independent assessment essential.
The test results confirmed a ‘Pass’ for wind resistance, with an ultimate test load of 3.6kN/m², and a classification of ‘Class 2 – Negligible Risk’ for impact resistance.
Nick Murray, Technical Director at BTS Facades and Fabrications, said: “Any modification to a certified system requires thorough testing, and the introduction of a fin is no exception.
“We took this step to ensure that it meets the same stringent standards as our other Vantage® systems.
“The results confirm that the addition does not compromise the safety or performance of the product, providing our customers with added confidence.”
The development has been welcomed by contractors looking for quick-turnaround, commercially viable alternatives to materials like zinc and other seamed finishes.
