Havant Sheet Metal (HSM) has invested in the latest HAAS VF4 HSS mill, which will significantly enhance our production capabilities, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the industry.
This new mill, which is now fully operational, will enable HSM to carry out more intricate work as well as a greater volume of projects, allowing us to serve more customers, and within their desired timescales.
The mill was installed at its Downley Road premises earlier this month, with commissioning being carried out shortly after. Extensive training was provided for the workshop staff that will be operating the mill, to ensure high levels of safety and quality control, which are top priorities for us.
Mill Operator Sam Vials said: “The arrival of the new mill has allowed me to enhance my skills as well as enabling us to increase our efficiency and capacity. It has improved our machine shop massively and I love showing it off to both new and existing customers.”
The new mill has enabled us to improve and increase our service offering to customers in the following ways:
- Doubling Production Capacity: The HAAS VF4 HSS mill will double our current machining capacity, enabling us to take on more projects simultaneously and increase throughput.
- Advanced Precision and Efficiency: The HSS (High-Speed Spindle) feature ensures faster cutting speeds and greater precision, giving us a competitive edge when producing complex parts and assemblies. This will help us maintain our reputation for delivering high-quality work.
- Expanding Business Opportunities: With increased capacity, we’ll be able to enter new markets and industries such as high-demand sectors such as aerospace, medical and automotive, where precision and reliability are paramount.
- Reducing Lead Times: The mill will facilitate faster production cycles, which will allow us to shorten lead times for our existing customers, improving customer satisfaction and strengthening our competitive position.
- Reinforcing Innovation: This investment in the latest, state-of-the-art machinery underscores our commitment to staying ahead of industry trends and reinforces our position as an innovative leader in sheet metal fabrication.
The mill represents our commitment to both exceptional customer service in the present, as well as long-term growth for the future. As demand grows, this investment will ensure that we can keep up with increasing project complexity and volume.
The installation of the HAAS VF4 is also set to have a positive impact on our environmental footprint, an important aspect of modern manufacturing. Its faster production cycles will contribute to energy efficiency, while its ability to reduce scrap metal waste will mean more materials can be utilised. These two factors line up nicely with the sustainability measures we already have in place.
Haas Automation started developing its first CNC Machining Centre in 1987. It is now the largest machine tool manufacturer in the western world, producing over 18,000 machines every year, including CNC machining centres, lathes and rotary tables. The company is headquartered in Oxnard, California, USA, with UK Headquarters in Norwich, England.
At Havant Sheet Metal, the company is a one-stop-shop for metal fabrication, providing a complete, all-in-one service from design and planning, to fabrication, finishing and coating. We’ve been specialising in the manufacture of high quality sheet metal components and fabrications since 1939 and have grown to a team of 40, including 30+ staff working on the shop floor.
One customer said: “We’ve been working with Havant Sheet Metal for over 20 years. Their workmanship is of the highest quality and they always provide excellent customer service, I really can’t recommend these guys enough!”
As the mill has essentially doubled its capabilities, the company are now actively seeking projects to keep her busy! Please get in touch if you have a sheet metal fabrication project you’d like us to undertake for you utilising this state-of-the-art mill, which will deliver exceptional results, whatever the project.
