- With two plants in Pune and one in Chennai, the company will expand its business to four Hot Stamping lines this summer, to meet the needs of OEMs.
- Gestamp presents its innovations and products from its three business units (BiW, Chassis and Mechanisms) with a focus on safer and lighter mobility for the ICE, connected and electric mobility of the future.
Gestamp, a multinational company specializing in the design, development and manufacture of highly engineered metal components for the automotive industry, has announced its fourth hot stamping line in India at the 16th edition of Auto Expo 2023-Components, where the company is showing for the second time (the first time was in 2020) its range of products and innovations for the new mobility. With the unveiling of Extreme Size Parts, Battery Boxes, Cell-to-Pack Concepts, Joining Technologies, Chassis innovative Lightweight Solutions or Active Frunks, the global company confirms its commitment to the country at the first worldwide automotive fair held this year. In this way, Gestamp aims to raise the bar in terms of its relevance in India as a key player in the automotive components sector, at a time when the Indian automotive sector has grown exponentially to become the third largest automotive market in the world.
Gestamp is looking ahead to 2023 in India with optimism, with a new hot stamping line to be opened by the end of the year, in addition to the two existing ones in Pune and another one in Chennai. Since its creation in 2006, Gestamp India has followed a strategy (as it does worldwide): to be close to its customers by co-developing solutions in close proximity to manufacturers. Thanks to its strong R&D capabilities, Gestamp can co-develop projects together with Indian customers and help them on the road to electrification.
Glyn Jones (Country Manager and President of Gestamp India), said: “We currently have many plans in India and we are helping customers accelerate their journey towards the mobility of the future. It is a challenge we are ready for and is in line with what we have been doing in the country since we revolutionized the market with hot stamping, a technology in which Gestamp is a world leader and a growth driver for Gestamp India”.
In addition, Gestamp’s third business unit, known under the Edscha brand, will be present for the first time in India at Auto Expo 2023 – Components. In May 2022, Edscha signed a joint venture agreement with the Indian automotive supplier Aditya Auto Products & Engineering, based in Chakan. The cooperation thus extends to the development, manufacture and distribution of hinge systems, door controls, latches and parking brakes, and will see its outcome this spring with the first production of module hinges at the Pune plant.
