Recently promoted Lorcan Fullam now heads up the Keltech Purchasing department and is responsible for a yearly spend in the region of €8 million euros per annum
The 30-year-old who joined Keltech just over 3 years ago is one of our many shining examples that hard work pays off.
Lorcan begins ” I was working in a local call centre for 5 years before joining Keltech. It was a good company and I progressed however the monotonous nature of the job was starting to grind on me, I felt I wanted and was capable of much more.”
Hesitantly Lorcan began applying for various roles ” I didn’t have any 3rd level qualification, that was banging around in my head, will my CV get tossed to the side?”. Lorcan applied for a Customer Service position in Keltech ” the interview went great, Lauren seemed much more interested in my working experience to date, my work ethic and what I felt I could bring to the role rather than focusing on my educational history”.
In March 2022 Lorcan began his Keltech career. “Customer Service was a fantastic way to really get my head under the hood of Keltech. Dealing with accounts for the likes of Caterpillar, Manitou, Liebherr and so on was a steep learning curve but I loved it. The role took me from front of house where I communicated with customers and then deep into production where I took customer requirements and negotiated production schedules with the OPs team, I found it super fulfilling”.
Declan Walsh Keltech COO “Keltech have had phenomenal growth since 2022, with growth comes opportunities.” Highlighted as a top performer by senior management Lorcan was now in contention for promotion when the right opportunity arose. “The first thing I noticed about Lorcan was his people skills. He formed strong rapport with customers and colleagues alike, thats important here. On top of that his attention to detail and analytical abilities were impressively strong”.
“In 2024 the then Purchaser was promoted to “Strategic Procurement Manager”, the vacant Purchasing role matched Lorcan’s strengths perfectly and we made the move. To be honest I didnt know until now or care Lorcan hadn’t got a 3rd level qualification, we hire the person not the CV” concludes Declan.
Now settled in the position Lorcan is enjoying the challenge “Im really enjoying the new position, since primary school I have always been good with numbers” Lorcan chuckles “I need to be here in Keltech where at any one time we will be holding over €2 million of stock and have around 4,000 SKUs.”
