Million-pound machinery investments are worth nothing without a team of skilled people who know how to use it to its best ability!

The Jenks & Cattell laser team and engineers have been experts in the laser fabrication field for years, with some having over 10 years’ experience with the use of our existing Trumpf laser machines, however the latest investment in the AMADA laser has come with a new set of skills including being a fibre laser over co2 and having a part-picker robot is a new accessory for the engineering business; and AMADA UK provided suitable and enhanced level training for the 4kw laser.

Pawel – Process Development Engineer, Alpesh – Laser Operator/Programmer, Aleksander – Laser Operator/Programmer and David – Estimator attended AMADA’s UK Technical Centre which is based in Kidderminster and states “the centre is specifically designed for machine demonstrations and verification of the latest technology in lasers, automation and software.” The 4-day offsite training included AMADA VPS531 Blank Cam software to allow the team to generate and optimise the laser programmes to nest the components in the most efficient and manufacturable layout and production plan. The interface allows file conversions and importing CAD directly into the system to ensure the laser cut part is to customer data and specification.

The AMADA installation and training team provided a 1-week onsite training syllabus at Jenks & Cattell for Pawel, Alpesh and Aleks which including fault finding, unloading and loading safely, maintenance, setup, changing nozzles and learning how to operate the tower and part picker robot.
